Incorporated in 1773, Jaffrey is named for George Jaffrey of Portsmouth, a NH colonial official. The oldest part of town contains many beautiful homes and the historic 1775 Town House. Mount Monadnock lies largely in Jaffrey and is a very popular attraction, said to be the most climbed mountain in the world with Mount Fuji in Japan.
